'i-COOKEY'는 신체에 새겨진 시간의 흔적들을 데이터화하여, 개인이 세계와 맺어온 관계를 기술적으로 재구성하는 프로젝트이다. 작품은 주름, 굳은살, 걸음걸이, 목소리 같은 비대칭적이고 개별적인 신체 습관을 기록하고, 이를 디지털 인증서 형태로 발급함으로써 신체 데이터화 과정을 탐구한다.
작품은 i-COOKEY 디지털 인증서라는 가상의 서비스를 출시하여, 관객이 자신의 신체 데이터를 소유하고 언제든 감상할 수 있도록 한다. 디지털에 친숙한 세대와 그렇지 않은 세대를 모두 대상으로 북촌 전시실과 노인 복지 센터 등지에서 세 차례 워크숍을 진행했으며, 참여자들은 자신의 움직임과 신체 습관이 어떻게 데이터로 변환되는지 경험하고, 이를 기반으로 발급된 인증서를 받았다.
전시는 'i-COOKEY 통합 데이터 센터'라는 가상 서비스 센터를 설치 공간으로 구현했다. 관객은 AR로 구현된 신체 데이터를 탐색하고, 참여자들의 데이터 기록, 데이터 수집 키트, 워크숍 기록 영상, 데이터 관리 운영지침과 설문조사 코너 등을 통해 데이터 주권과 소유권 문제를 함께 사유한다. 'i-COOKEY'는 데이터 사회 속에서 개인의 신체 흔적이 어떻게 수집되고, 관리되며, 재소유될 수 있는지를 비판적으로 드러내며, 기술이 우리의 몸과 시간을 대하는 방식을 다시 성찰할 것을 제안한다.
i-COOKEY is a project that translates the temporal traces inscribed on the body into data, technologically reconstructing an individual’s relationship with the world. The work records asymmetrical, highly personal bodily habits—such as wrinkles, calluses, gait, and voice—and explores the process of bodily datafication by issuing them in the form of a digital certificate. The project imagines and launches a fictional service called the “i-COOKEY Digital Certificate,” allowing individuals to own and revisit their bodily data. Three workshops were held in both digital-native and non-digital-native contexts, including a Bukchon exhibition site and a senior welfare center. Participants experienced how their physical habits and movements were captured and transformed into data, and received certificates generated from this process.
The exhibition space was conceived as a mock infrastructure titled the i-COOKEY Integrated Data Center—a fictional service hub where audiences could engage with AR-generated body data. The space also included records of participant data, data collection kits, documentation of the workshops, data management protocols, and a survey station. Through this interactive archive, the work invites reflection on issues of data sovereignty and ownership.
i-COOKEY critically examines how bodily traces are collected, managed, and re-owned in a data-driven society. It questions how technology interacts with our bodies and our time, and prompts viewers to re-evaluate the terms of bodily agency in a world increasingly governed by systems of surveillance and digital identity.
